Yesterday was GORGEOUS up here in dc. Temperature in the mid 70s, sunshine, a breeze...all that. It was perfect! My girls and I had said that we were going to have a picnic the first nice day of spring we see. So sunday night, we went grocery shopping for picnic foods and supplies, sent out ratchet invitations to all our friends, and the next day we had our picnic! It was last minute, but turned out to be EPIC. Everyone pitched in and brought something, and we had so many people to come through! It was honestly one of the most memorable days of HU I've had thus far :D

Im different guys. So when I come home, dont be alarmed. Howard...dc in general has turned me into a different person.

• I speak with almost an entirely new vocab. Words Id never heard prior to moving here have become a part of my daily speech. So if I say something to you that sounds foreign, Ill glady explain its meaning.
• Im really becomming thick. Likeee...really. Hah! I aint fat, dont get me wrong, even though bb called me husky :[ but on some real shit my ass has got to be...imma say 44 inches aroudn now. I seriously cannot fit half of my jeans. Its a problem..but not necesarily a bad one. Which leads me to my next change.
• I loved to party back home...but parties here have turned me into a party animalll to say the least. I think its because when I came up here I aint know anybody, so whenever I went to parties, I could just let loose and not care because ion know these people soo fuck it! But now when me and my girls go out, we get it CRACKIN to say the least. Likeee, we are live all the time. We gets it in. Wait till I come back home and party with yall. Yall gonna be like LOOK AT THIS BITCH! haha
• I also cuss alot more, cant you tell? So if I call you a bitch, its all out of love :]
• Obviously, I have no hair, dont care.

opportunidades.

I was definately choosen to be a part of a live taping today with MSNBC's Education Nation Week. How exciting is that? I didnt speak or anything, but just the experience of being there and hearing what U.S. secretary of education Duncan had to say about his new TEACH program was enough for me! I know for sure that I wouldnt recieve opportunities like this at any other school. Ive been on tv twice, and school has only been in session for a little over a month!! I love howard, like deadass. I could not see myself anywhere else at this point. There are just so many positive things going on here all the time...what more could I ask for? :]

Btw, tonight is the big unveiling of the homecoming lineup. For those who dont know, HU homecoming is ALWAYS epic and one of the most anticipated. We always have an amazing lineup-Im talking big time celebs. Im so excited to hear who all is coming!! :D Ill let you guys know asap!

frazier 3rd.

So up here at howard I live in the all freshman girl's dorm called the quad. Its five separate dorm halls that form a lil quadrangle or whatever. I live in frazier 3rd floor...&&let me just tell you I LOVE MY GIRLS. Like seriously, they are the shit. Im pretty sure we're the closest floor in the whole quad. All of us are cool, minus like two but fuck it. We stay doing something crazy like having random ass floor parties at 1am or some shit. Most of the time you can catch us eating and talking about people in each other's rooms...because theres always some drama going on. I love it. I love them. We're the shit. Get like us bitch.

That was sooo not what I intended to post...I actually had no idea what I wanted to post about...just felt the need to..Ill come back later, lmao :P

quick update of my classes and whatnot...cuz im bored.

Psych: Love this class, the teacher is a trip. Very interesting and SUPER easy for me since this class and my human development class go hand in hand. Only dislike is the fact that its my 8.10 class. But, its not terrible in that aspect.

Freshman Comp: I hated this class at first, but it gets better everyday. As we speak, Im supposed to be writing my first paper for it :P. Veryyy small class, we do alot of discussing. This is going to be a veryyyy easy A :]

Choir: Basically our choir director is the cutest thing ever :] Hes a little old man who talks hella bad to us then expresses his love for us all in the same hour. Our first performance is next friday at our convocation, &&he already has tours planned out for us! Its gonna be a great year, I can tell already.

Freshman Orientaion: I still see no purpose of this class, but whatever, another easy A...even though I missed the first assignment :P. Its a fresh o. especially for human development majors, so its cool getting to meet my fellow school of e peers!

Basic math: Another easy A. Im slick becoming a teachers pet unintentionally because Im like the only person in this 4-5 person class [no bullshit, thats how many of us there are on average...never more than 5] who actually gives a shit and does my work constantly. Its hella boring though, but its a breeze.

Life Sci: This is going to be my problem class. Both of my teachers [lecture and lab] have heavy ass accents and are NOT good teachers...mainly my lecture teacher, which is the more important one. &&Everyone knows that Im noooo good at science, so Im already struggling. Ugh! But imma try to keep up best I can.

Human development: Definately my most interesting class. Ive already learned so much. Sometime the teacher can be really boring, but I try to look past that and focus on the material...then the class becomes fun. Another easy class :]

&&Besides my classes, Ive been super busy with blue crew and Im about to start getting involved with various orgs around campus, including the school of education student council. I love how busy I am! &&Yet I still have time to party and whatnot on the weekends! This is seriously the life! :]

Sooo umm yeah, school is wonderful. Happy that its fridayyy! Fucked up friday, to be exact ;] bow!!! Not sure exactly what Im getting into tonight...tyga is in town! I realllly want to go see him, but I have no idea where he is going to be. We trying to see travie mccoy tomorrow too. &&Ive heard rumors that mr steal yo girl himself may make an appearance on campus this weekend...he and monica perform here tmr on their tour. I was supposeeeed to be going, but never got around to buying tickets, and now they cost almost 80 a pop. No bueno. Im literally a broke college student. I have no money. Im not exaggerating. Well, maybe a little...since I am going to the mall after class today with the trio :]

Ohhh, another thing thats new and that Im excited about- So a group of freshman dudes with the help of a few seniors put together this spirit group called blue crew...so of course I joined!! They need my loud ass!! Wednesday our girls had their first home volleyball game, and the crew went and got that shit hype! I cant imagine how itll be for the bball and football games! Basically you pay a $40 fee and you get to go to ALL of the home and select away games for the freeski...all you pay for out of your pocket is food. Its almost too good to be true! Im so excited...yall be on the lookout for us if yall play us in any sport...because we WILL be there. Track, swimming, bball, soccer, alllll that. BLUE CREW :D !!!

last day of august.

I cant believe september is here already!! But then again, I feel like Ive been here all my life. Like I feel like I grew up here...&&it seems like Ive known the new people Ive met for years. Ive really clicked with alot of great people; I loveee my new friends! We have soo many inside jokes already, &&its obvious that we're rubbing off on each other. I hope we remain close throughout the next few years! Im just loving life right now, cant even lie. No stress my way! Handling my business in these easy ass classes, &&partying on the weekend. Its the life! Im soo anxious to get more involved though. We have out organization fair on thursday, so Im super excited to learn about all there is to do here on campus. I know for sure I want to get involved in the student government and anything involving community service, especially at the childrens hospital across the street!! Ill keep you guys posted :]

some realizations.

So I havent been keeping up with my blog like I promised Id try...uhh oops! Hah. Not like that many people read it anyway, with school started and everything. Anyways, something Ive come to realize since my time here at howard..

I should forever show sincere gratitude to hume fogg. As much hell and stress that it put me through, it honestly was all worth it. The classes Im taking are basically the equivalent of what I did in like..9th grade. Ok...actually, Im gonna take a different direction than what I orginally planned. For a minute I was about to talk about how far ahead academically I feel that I am compared to my peers...but thats not even it, when I think about it. What gets me is the lack of just...common sense that some of these people lack. Imma give yall a few examples.

Just now in life science, our teacher was lecturing us on something, &&she had slides to go along with the lecture. She stated a fact like...imma make something up...'all living things grow and develop'. This statement also appeared on the slide. A girl raised her hand...what does she ask? "Soo, are you saying that all living things grow and develop??" .... -____- I actually said 'wow' out loud at that point. Bitch, what the fuck. SERIOUSLY? Even if you werent listening, that shit is on the slide in bold-fucking-face font. Shit like that pisses me off.

Okay, another example. I take freshman composition on mwf. &&There is a chick in my class that is lacking something major in the brain. Thats mean as hell...but seriously. Everytime we have class, she just asks something off the wall dumb. Fuck, I cant even think of that one question she asked that made me just laugh out loud...but I do remember yesterday, because I sat next to her. So our professor gave us an assignment to print off an article about how to mark a book or whatever...we were supposed to read it and take notes, and sometime last week we had a class discussion on it. A normal person would put the papers in thier notebook to save and refer back to at a later date, right? This bitch raises her hand yesterday, mind you this is a week after we had the class dicussion on the article, and asks "You know that article you told us to print off...do you want us to throw it away??" ...............I had to turn my fucking head. Before I could even turn my head though, Im pretty sure my face looked a little like this --> :O lmao. Imma start writing this shit down, I swear. It doesnt sound as crucial via blog...you just have to be there. Shit. Imma get a better example one day though....

Why I love HU.

This first week has honestly lived up to be wayyy beyond my expectations. I knew it would be hype, but goodness! Ive loved every minute of it though, even though my body disagrees. I feel completely comfortable here &&I know that Im going to enjoy the next 3 or 4 years I have to be here. Im sooo sorry for neglecting my blog, but Im doing my best! Anywho, here is a list of the things I love the most about howard thus far.

• The city;; Coming from little ass nashville to a city like dc is a hugeeee upgrade. The city seriously never sleeps! Theres is always a multitude of things to do, places to go, sights to see, places to eat, malls to shop at...it never ends. The people here arent as friendly, but thats expected. Besides that, I love it! I mean, where else can you find a ice cream man at 4am that sells not only ice cream, but legit food like hamburgers?! Exactly.
• The diversity;; I love the diverse group of people that hu has! Yes, we are probably 99% black, but within the black people are sooo many subgroups of people. But what I really love is how we are all from different parts of the world. Ive met people from canada, trinidad, damn near every other island in the carribean, and even paris. Ive been learning slang from all these different places &&I loveee hearing all the different accents. Apparently, my country accent is really thick, lol.
• The fashion;; Minus a handfull of people that Ive seen around campus, everyone here has a greatttt sense of style! No one up here holds back or judges based on appearance. Ive never seen so many dudes who can dress they asses off. Im talking freshhh all the time! &&The girls stay on top of they shit like no other...I love it.
• The dudes;; Like...everyday, I find someone who I would like to marry. Its that crucial. The guys up here just have this...thing about them that makes them extra special-I cant even put my finger on what it is. &&Not only do they look good and have swag and are personable..BUT THEY ARE SMART AS FUCK! Which is a MAJOR turn on for me. There is nothing better than a man who has a plan and goals for his life. Thats just fucking sexy. Shit.
• The campus pals;; They are the hypest group of people Ive ever encountered in my life. Everyday they had something fun planned for us to do. I love them. I want to be one. They really have made this week something special and memorable.
• My new friends;; First off, ashley is great!! We are sooo much alike, &&enjoy all of the same things! Bahah. Ohh man. Yea, I love her. All the girls on my hall are the shit...&&everyone else that Ive met is just super cool. I can tell some of these people are going to be lifelong friends :]

Theres alot more, but those are the biggest things. Yes, I do miss everyone back home and I havent forgotten about you guys, its just that Im sooo busy all the time, especially now that classes have started. But like I said, Ill do my best to keep updating when I can :]

exhaustion.

Ever since saturday...Ive been staying up until at least 2am partying or just chilling out on the yard...last night me and ashley didnt get back to our rooms until about 430. Yea, we getting sleep...but no where near how much we should, because we usually have things to do or places to go in the morning. Needless to say, my body hates me right now...I can feel it. Im tense, my feet, neck, and back constantly are sore...eyes puffy, just a mess really. Im loving it though, Im not gonna lie...but once school starts on monday that is alllll going to have to change.

Because see, my dumbass procrastinated on registering for classes. We had an option of early registration back in the beginning of july that lasted a week..instead of getting it done that first day, I waited till like day four, so alll the good classes were gone. Moral of the story, I have 8.10 classes on mwf. FML. But I mean, thats not too bad really...just like back in hs...&&I can sleep later because the buliding is literally a 5 min walk away.

Honestly though I think what messed me up from the jump was the time change...actually that dont make sense because we a hour ahead of nashville...so nevermind hah!

• I have found a potential gay best friend to be. Hes such a sweetheart! He got me a $5 water &&I aint ask or nothing! &&That boy can grind better than me...I experienced it first hand...thats how we met actually, he just came and grinded on me hah! I love him.
• I have my own personal waka flocka...seriously this nigga is his celeb look alike like a mofo. Hes a sweetheart too hahaha.

• I have met more carribeans and dreadheads down here than I have ever seen in my natural living life.

• Our caf has the best food ever...like anything you want, they got. Seriously. &&You can get as much as you want...&&I found a way to buck the system &&get free meals without using my mealcard...bow!

I feel like Im not going to ever have time to update my blog as much as Id like to, so I would like to take the time to apologize in advance. Its just that my internet box that I gotta hook my comp up to is broken at the moment, &&the wireless connection in my dorm is that bull, so me and ashley have to share one internet connection. So just a little update...after my fam left me yesterday :[ I went to lunch with lauren and ashley...we had the little meet your pal meet and greet, which was real cool &&a good chance to meet some new people. My pal name is Josh, he does music, &&is just super chill. After that, we had the rep yo city party on the yard...mannn, the south gets no love. Well, just a little. But omg when I tell you that we shook that shit, I mean WE SHOOK THAT SHIT. The girl boy ratio here is 15:1 I think, so the dudes realllly enjoyed themselves. I aint shook my ass like that ina minute..but shit I still got it! Haha, I was so hype at the end, hair sweated back, shirt all up and shit lookin a mess, but I was having so much fun that it aint matter. I met alot of cool dudes too, &&one even walked me back to the dorm :] He's a sweetheart...but just a tad bit on the short side hahahah! So, idt this relationship is gonna progress beyond friends :P. Hes cool though! I feel like an asshole...haha, thats smithy's saying.

my journey thus far...

SOOO much has gone on this past weekend, &&I dont necessarily want to bore you guys with my rambling, so Ill try to make this short and sweet :]

We left nashville friday morning...&&let me just say that I spent the entirety of thursday packing. Like, you seriously dont realize how many things you need and use on a daily basis in life until you have to pack it. I ended up with two full suitcases, two trunks, a duffle, a hanging bag, a crate, and 3 big boxes of stuff to take with me...we had a uhaul, hah! Ok, anyways...we got on the road at about 930....made a few stops on the way for gas&&food...got into the city at about 930! It was perfect! Checked into our BOMB ass hotel suite, walked to a pizza joint to eat, stopped at cvs for some last minute stuff, &&went to bed.

Saturday morning we got up &&got out to howard at about 10...we were trying to beat the crowd, but we failed. There were sooo many people there already. All saturday morning my mama, sister, &&I ran around campus trying to get laundry cards and id cards, and room keys, as well as having to clear up some stuff with the admin. My daddy finally got someone to haul all my shit up to my room! Not too long after, ashley arrived and we met for the first time in person!! She brought her stuff in, &&we unpacked for the next hour or so. Crazily enough, we had the same color scheme of pink, black, &&zeebra! So our room looks real nice :]. Later that night we had a spirit rally, which was sooo fun. I swear campus its like a big ass party 24.7! Then we were gonna go to a house party...it got shut down...so we went to a party on the yard...soooo fun. I met alot of people, got to chill with my girls, dance, take a shot...hahah! But uhmm yea. Then we came back to the dorm to finally go to bed around 2...we were all soooo tired.

We were supposed to go to chapel this morning...overslept, hah. So I just got up and ate brunch...went to a lil q&a with the campus pals, which is basically the best student orginization ever! Im defnately gonna try to be one next year. They are the ones who put together all these events for us this week, &&all of them are never hesitant to help or answer a question being 200% real haha. Tonight we have a 'meet your pal' social event, then a 'rep yo city' party on the yard...&&a pj party after that...&&a dorm meeting somewhere inbetween all that. Im gonna need a nap!!

Right now Im just chilling with my fam...this will be the last time I see them before thanksgiving; they fly back later on tonight. Not gonna lie, Im pretty sad about it. Its definately gonna be crazy being alllll on my own. Ive already realized how hard it is to get a meal around here! Haha. I love them. So glad they have been here with me this weekend :]

That is my experience thus far :] For all of my friends who have yet to move in, trust me, being a college kid is seriously the most fun experience you will have. Im loving it sooo much. So get excited!!! :D
